Driver EducationAs young adults approach driving age, the quality of their driver education program becomes critical. Courses taught by qualified professionals are vital. They place a well-balanced emphasis on driver performance, making accurate decisions based on perception and appropriate behavior at a time when students are just beginning to drive. The Teen Driver Education program includes: 32 hours of classroom instruction (in-person or online), 7 hours of instructor-led driving, and 7 hours of observation driving. NewDriver Education - Live In-Person-2026-2027Driver EducationThe comprehensive driver education course includes 32 hours of classroom instruction as well as 7 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction, and 7 hours of observation with a licensed instructor. All classroom teachers and driving instructors are NEISD employees who are licensed by the state to instruct driver education. Students will additionally need to complete 30 hours of driving with their parent. Our 7-Step Program Flyer and FAQ can be found by clicking this link. The posted schedule is for the completion of the classroom instruction only, which is completed in person. On the 4th day of classroom instruction, students will be provided the certificate to obtain their permit. Once their permit is obtained, students will have access to our behind-the-wheel scheduling system, which allows them to select available drives at their convenience. Scheduling behind-the-wheel is completed by the parent and student. When registering for the comprehensive course, please make sure to complete and return the contract by/on the first day of instruction. Students must be 15 on or before the first day of class. This program requires student and parent involvement. Detailed information about the program, including classroom room number, will be sent out the Friday before class begins. Enhancing Conflict Resolution SkillsHealth & WellnessThis two-night course provides an opportunity to identify and discuss conflicts we have daily. It’s how we handle conflict that determines whether we can maintain relationships or forever be “at war” with ourselves and others. You will understand the basic ingredients in what causes conflict, the importance of communication, and how to develop better listening skills. You will practice the process of resolving conflicts and learn how to attack the problem, define the issues, and move from individual positions to common goals. After this course you will know how the unmet needs involving love, belonging, freedom and fun can impact your ability to resolve daily conflicts.
