Built on the Court is a structured basketball-based leadership and behavior support program designed for elementary students. The program uses skill development, movement, mentorship, and intentional Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) integration to build focus, accountability, self-control, and positive decision-making. Each 90-minute session integrates: ● Structured basketball skills instruction ● A clearly defined weekly leadership theme ● Direct Social-Emotional Learning instruction ● Guided reflection and accountability practices SEL Component: The program intentionally develops the five core competencies of Social-Emotional Learning: ● Self-Awareness – recognizing emotions, strengths, and growth areas ● Self-Management – controlling impulses, managing frustration, and responding appropriately under pressure ● Social Awareness – empathy, respect, and understanding others ● Relationship Skills – communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution ● Responsible Decision-Making – making positive choices on and off the court Students participate in age-appropriate discussion prompts and short guided reflections that connect court behavior to classroom expectations and real-life decision-making. This is not recreational play. It is a structured leadership and behavior-support model delivered through basketball. What to expect? – real-life topics that help students connect, and enjoy the learning process. This session is based on the topics: • My Day! We will learn how to talk about daily routines, including common activities and time expressions. • My Clothes! Students will express their preferences in clothing, learning colors, clothing items, and how to describe what they like to wear in a common day of school. • My Favorite Things We will talk about our favorite items, foods, and activities, expressing likes and interests. BEGINNERS Age-appropriate class; games, crafts, and a program focused on expanding vocabulary.
